1.
I’ve had two long months since I’ve been home my feet are tired and my brain is worn and my empty arms oh they long for you and my home on the prairie when my rambling days are through I’ve had too many nights where my eyes couldn’t see this drinking won’t cure it
this pain won’t leave and that low empty feeling
that comes to me when I’m out on the road
when it comes time to leave And when all is said and done and my rambling days are through will you be the one
that I’m running to or will you leave with another true love will I always be the one you dream of
2.
Salty Air 02:58
I’m waking with the salty air and you by my side I have not a single care and I wish not to die Tell me where did we go was it wrong from the start all the nights we didn’t know we’d make it this far Come to me my true love and sing to me your song all the things we dreamt of have now moved along I’ll lay awake and wonder do you think of me the days and nights together and all the miles between
3.
Don’t tell me it's time to leave after all the months we’ve shared I’m tangled in the tallest trees I’m tangled in your hair For I no longer care to be alone when I’m with thee for the words I hear from my love's lips are as sweet as the honey Paint for me a picture dear so I won’t be alone with all the miles and months between your journey and your home Well I’ll be here all winter long waiting patiently for my true love and her sweet song to return like the willow leaves When spring has finally come and gone and your face I have not seen I’ll know that you have moved along with a different love then me So fare thee well my own true love wherever you may be in the arms of another man these eyes they could not see Don’t tell me it's time to leave after all the months we’ve shared
4.
Woke Up 04:38
I woke up just wishing to be just lost on the road or lost in a dream with you by my side and Townes on the radio just singing something about waiting for the day Someday you’ll wake up and know the pain I’ve been feeling
you’ll pack your bags and go with no words to say and nowhere to go just something about having to make it on your own As I watched you pull your car away I’ll wondering where you’re going will I see you someday just lost along the road like we use to be just singing Bob Dylan’s Song to Woody The months and the years they will pass and I’ll wondering where you’ve been did you find home at last and are you still singing those sad and lonesome songs the same way we use to when we were all alone
5.
More then enough road for one man or two just driving this whole country looking for you You with your black eyes and faded blue jeans and one too many songs about what might have been What might have been What might have been I’ve been getting older each and every day with enough things said or done for a life time they say Someday we’ll look back with faded memories on the life that we didn’t choose what might have been What might have been What might have been
6.
When I wake in the morning and my arms for you they long and your home on the eastern coast my arms for you they long Oh my dear you have left me in the merry month of May and my heart will no longer love you left in the month of May When the spring has turned to golden and your eyes I wish to see your song I’ll forever sing your eyes I wish to see And when the summer has gone and left us and the snow it does fly your heart is no longer mine the snow it will fly As I wake I’ll lay and wonder do you think of me as you did on that lonesome day do you think of me
7.
I’ve been all across the great plains and more I’ve been from the east to the westerly shores I’ve seen all there is for these poor eyes to see now I’m painting a picture just for you and me Darling don’t say - how will you find my morning words come the morning time As for you and me you know I’d rather stay but honey I’m a working man didn’t plan it out this way just five more nights of shows in dusty old bar rooms once I’m done my rambling I’ll be coming home to you Darling don’t say - how will you find my morning words come the morning time I’ve been all across the great plains and more I’ve been from the east to the westerly shores and I’m coming back around coming back to your door I’ll be painting no pictures I’ll be singing no more
8.
When you come back around second avenue through downtown how you’ve changed but stayed the same when you come back around I’ve been away for a few lonely months - been waiting to hear your voice coming down the wire I’ve been away for a few And I know we’re all the same like falling leaves we all change turn from brown back into green well I know we’re all the same When it comes time for leaving we’ll say our goodbyes knowing theres a reason for all these miles left in between when it comes time for leaving
9.
I no longer can recall all the times you made me crawl all the times I’d hang my head and cry but still the teardrops fall and lord what's worst of all I just aint got the nerve to say goodbye I'm waiting for the day to hide my love away I’ll stand up like a man so tall and free then you'll be the one to say darlin' can't you stay I don't know what I would do if you should leave me Girl I don't know why you always have to try to hurt me to make me feel ashamed but some day by and by you're gonna be the one to cry and walk the floor and sadly call my name I'm waiting for the day to hide my love away I’ll stand up like a man so tall and free then you'll be the one to say oh darlin' can't you stay I don't know what I would do if you should leave me But it looks like until then I'll throw pride to the wind and I'll try to believe that I don't know a day is coming when you won't do me wrong again and I will be the one to turn and go

Wake up my dear the sun's coming up over them hills and there's coffee in your cup and I want to know what you were dreaming of wake up my dear the sun's coming up Last night in my dream we were far far away I was a soldier and you were a maid we worked like hell for the money we made last night in my dream we were far far away I courted you gently I courted you true a pretty fair maiden and me makes two I swore that I would always love you I courted you gently and I courted you true You and me and a baby made three A beautiful boy A family we would be his second year I would never see you and me and a baby made three One day they came roving through town said all you poor soldiers won't you gather around It's time to fight at the trumpets sound one day they came roving to through town We went to war and death did we find It was many a poor boy that did surely die and I thought of you as I laid there and cried we went to war and death did we find It pains me to think If that were all true to no longer love or hold you I awoke with with sun It was shining through It pains me to think If that were all true Wake up my dear the sun's coming up over them hills and there's coffee in your cup And I want to know what you're dreaming of wake up my dear The sun's coming up

about

These songs were recorded to one inch tape on a tascam 85-16B. produced by Zachary Lucky and engineered by Chad Mason at sine wave studios in rural Saskatchewan, over six days during the month of April 2013. Additional engineering was done by Jonathan Anderson. All songs were mixed and mastered over four days in May by Jonathan Anderson at buena vista audio in Langley, BC.

Photo taken by Christina Bourne. Album layout and design by Kevin Mozdzen.

All songs written by Zachary Lucky except for "waitin' for the day" which was written by the late great Townes Van Zandt.

Thanks to Bob and Cheri Lucky for believing in this journey more then I ever could. To the fine folks that helped make this record a reality: Chad Mason, Aaron Goldstein, Karrnnel Sawitsky, Ben Hadaller, Chris Prpich, Jon Anderson. Additional thanks to Mike Brooks, Tyler Belluz, Carly Maicher, Kevin and Gillian, Ryan Boldt, Kacy and Clayton, Christina Bourne, Joseph Fortin and the rest of the Fortins in Peterborough, the Karpinka's, T. and C. Ginther.

Thanks to everyone who has believed in these songs from day one - to those of you who've been my family out on the road over the past few years, to those of you who continue to buy the albums and come to the shows.

about

Zachary Lucky Saskatchewan

Zachary Lucky is unapologetically old-school country, armed with a husky, baritone voice. He sings of Canadian places and people as knowingly as he might Townes Van Zandt or the Rio Grande. Hailed as a master storyteller by No Depression, Zachary is becoming a legend in his own right and has safely reserved his spot at the table of Canadian roots royalty. ... more
